Frequently Asked Questions

Who is ABC Legal?

ABC Legal Services is a "process service" company, meaning we deliver legal documents to individuals and businesses.

ABC has been delivering documents nationwide for more than 40 years, typically via “process servers” or unbiased third parties whose job it is to deliver legal documents pursuant to state and federal rules and regulations.

ABC's Secure Service Portal offers recipients the opportunity to accept their legal documents digitally.

Please visit our website to learn more about us.

What kind of documents are these?

They are legal documents giving you notice of a lawsuit.

Do I have to accept my documents digitally?

No, you are not required to accept a digital copy of your documents. But, if you do not accept the documents electronically, we will send a delivery person, also known as a "process server,” to your residence to deliver the documents in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.

If you would prefer your documents be hand-delivered in-person, please schedule a date and time for delivery by returning to abclegal.com/code, entering the code listed on your notice. Then, confirm your identity using the last four digits of your social security number.

Below the copy of your legal document, click on “Schedule In-Person Delivery” and fill out your information.

Is there a cost for accepting the documents?

No, ABC Legal Services doesn't charge a fee to recipients and you do not need to pay anything to use the service.

Why do you need to know the last four digits of my SSN?

We ask for this information to confirm we're delivering the documents to the correct person—we want to make sure your documents get to you, and not someone else.

What happens if I don't accept my documents digitally?

We will send a delivery person, also known as a "process server," to your residence to deliver the documents in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.

If you would prefer your documents be hand-delivered in-person, please schedule a date and time for delivery by returning to abclegal.com/code and entering the code listed on your notice. Then, confirm your identity using the last four digits of your social security number.

I have submitted the last four digits of my SSN and received my documents, but why do I have to sign a document?

To officially accept/waive service electronically, the document available on ABC's Secure Service Portal will need to be reviewed and signed to complete delivery.

What if I don't sign the document on ABC's Secure Service Portal?

Delivery will remain incomplete, and ABC will send a delivery person (a "process server") to your residence to hand-deliver your documents in hard copy.
