Essential Information and Best Practices for Serving Business Entities
There's a Registered Agent's Name on the Job; Do I Have to Serve Them or Can I Serve Anyone Authorized?
If a specific Registered Agent is listed as the person we are serving, we must serve them.
If the subject's name is a company and the Special Handling notes give a tip on who the most recent Registered Agent is per the customer, you may serve anyone authorized.
The Business Isn't Accepting Service Because the Subject No Longer Works There, Do I Still Serve?
Yes! Wage Garnishments should be delivered to the business regardless of the subject's employment status. If they no longer work at the business, they will be able to follow the instructions in the paperwork indicating how to report that back to the court.
The Business Says the Paperwork Has to Be Served at Another Location; What Do I Do?
If the service address provided in ABC Mobile is no longer valid, document the address as unserviceable and request an alternative address where the service documents can be delivered.
📍 If you obtain a new address, log the new address and how you obtained it in an attempt and add the new address in ABC Mobile.
The Business Is at a Residential Address, Do I Still Serve?
Yes, the business or Registered Agent may operate from a residential address. We should proceed with the service attempt as usual to ensure successful delivery.
